A crushed shell driveway is a loose surface driveway where the top layer is crushed seashell rather than stone. It goes down over a compacted gravel base, the same way a gravel driveway does, and it is the surface most people picture when they picture a Cape Cod house. We lay shell walkways and paths the same way, just narrower.

For a driveway that has thinned, rutted or gone patchy. We regrade it, fix where water sits, and lay fresh shell over the top.

Crushed stone driveways
Angular stone that locks together and holds a slope
A crushed stone driveway uses angular crushed rock rather than shell as the wearing surface. We install three quarter inch crushed stone, which is the size that works for a residential driveway: small enough to walk and drive on comfortably, large enough that the pieces lock against each other instead of rolling apart. The same stone makes a good walkway or garden path.

Stone driveway refresh and regrading
For stone that has spread, potholed or thinned in the wheel tracks. We regrade, correct the drainage, and top it off.
