Forestdale was called Greenville until 1887 and was farmland long before it was a residential village. It sits inland, away from the bay entirely, and that inland position is the most useful thing to know about building a driveway here.
No salt, no marsh, no bluff
Almost every complication we deal with elsewhere on the Upper Cape comes from being near water. Forestdale has none of that. No marsh edge holding moisture, no bluff pitching a driveway toward the road, no exposure pushing material around in a storm.
What it has instead is sandy, free-draining ground under a layer of topsoil and pine duff. Strip that layer, compact what is underneath, and you have close to ideal conditions for a loose surface driveway.
The one thing worth watching
Trees. Forestdale earns the name, and a driveway cut through pine gets a steady fall of needles and cones that a bright white surface shows plainly.
That is a preference rather than a fault. If you want shell and you are under pines, expect to blow or rake it a few times a year. If that sounds like a chore, crushed stone hides litter far better and asks less of you.

Crushed stone comes into its own here for one reason: it hides what falls on it. Under pines, a gray surface stays looking swept far longer than a white one does.
The ground itself is good enough that both materials perform well, so this is genuinely a question of how much upkeep you want.
